Palm wood is a material exemplar for Tunisia, as the palm tree is symbolic to the country. The trunk of a palm tree has a soft center, allowing for imaginative pieces with sculptural forms. The trunks go through a process of cutting, molding, shaving and sculpting, the full process from tree trunk to finished piece is done by hand, which means each finished piece is unique. Each Tinja item is handmade, making each piece unique. Slight variation in size and form may occur from the images and dimensions.
